As a 19-year-old Wayne Allison made his professional debut when he started his first match for Halifax Town, scoring in the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
From there the striker scored 23 goals in 84 appearances for the Shaymen in two seasons before signing for Watford and then Bristol City where the Huddersfield born player scored 48 goals in 195 appearances.
Spells at Swindon, Huddersfield, Tranmere Rovers and Sheffield United followed, which included appearances in the Carling Cup and FA Cup Semi-Finals and a trip to Cardiff for the Championship Play-Off Final. He joined Chesterfield in 2004 and notched 23 goals in 115 starts for the Spireites before ending his impressive playing career at club level.
After enjoying a career that has seen him score more than 200 goals in well over 800 appearances he has turned his attentions to studying the game more in depth and has recently gained his UEFA A, B and Pro Licence's and is also in the process of studying for a PhD in Sports Science which in completion will add to an excellent sporting CV for Wayne to take forward into new projects.
