Andy Burgess is a semi-professional footballer, currently serving as player/coach for Blue Square North club Corby Town.

He began his career as a YTS at Rushden and Diamonds Football Club, where he progressed into the first team and during two spells with the club, making 333 first team appearances, 147 of which were in the football club, a club record. Andy is also second in the clubs all time appearance list and was club captain. I was fortunate enough to have been at the club throughout its more successful period, gaining promotion from the Conference to the then Division Three (now League 2) and two seasons later, a further promotion to League One.

In January 2006, former Rushden manager Briant Talbot paid £30,000 for Andy to become an Oxford United player, where he stayed for a season and a half before returning to The Diamonds on a free transfer. In July 2009 Andy left the club for a second time and joined Luton Town, the club he and his family have always supported. For various reasons he spent just five months there before joining Mansfield Town for the remainder of that season. Andy has since played for Chester and Woking before taking up his position at Corby Town.

Throughout his career Andy has represented England C 8 times, winning two Four Nation Tournaments and scoring two goals, against Scotland and Wales. He has also written many articles for various media sources during his career, including having a weekly column in the sports section of national newspaper, The Daily Mirror.
