Well the best laid plans for the New Year didn’t quite work out. We hadn’t realised that the ice rink was going to be closed, and we decided that going to the hot springs was perhaps not the best idea as the access route is very narrow and in the dark going over the river would be rather dangerous, so we all stayed in and played twister and on the Wii. It was amazing going outside at midnight as there were fireworks going off everywhere. The noise was incredible as it bounced off the mountains and echoed around us. The Italians are mental with fireworks!
Even though it was New Years Day we were still training bright and early. We were back on the Stelvio doing training. Everything was going so well and I am really happy with my progress. I just wish that this wasn’t my last day of training. Most of the others are staying out, or coming back in a week for the speed week, sadly my funds don’t stretch to that and I have to go home tomorrow.
So back home, I am having to revert back to school and exams, and also I am starting to coach for my club – Ski MK Race team which will be fun, I can also earn some money to go towards the 2nd pair of GS skis that I really need.
I am also planning my next trip which will be towards the end of January. I will be going to Zweisimmen in Switzerland for a Ski Cross Race. This will be for the Swiss Cup and also, if I can get a licence, the Europa Cup. The GB Ski Cross Coach is supporting me for this, but it is up to the powers that be.
As soon as those races are over I will head off to Meiringen for my last ever International Schoolboys Races, where I will link up with some of the guys from school. It is always a really good few days.
