Well it’s the start of the season again, with the continuous buzz from the excitement of being back on snow and starting to train and the anticipation of races and the forthcoming season. After packing up Jane’s car full of ski gear and Mars Refuel, to last until we are next home at Christmas, we were on our way.

I have been back out in Hintertux now for a month, two weeks of free skiing and working on the basics before the official pre season Team Camp for another two weeks.

I think I can safely say that I have never felt quite this happy at the start of the season. It’s going to be a big season (as they always are!!) and there is still a lot of work to do to make sure I am selected for the Paralympics but all the summer training and the trip out to New Zealand has left me in good stead and the disappointment and frustrations of last season (the forbidden year!) are now forgotten about and in the past and everything is falling in to place.

It was great to get a couple of weeks with Jane Sowerby and supper buddy Jonny before the team camp.

But to be skiing with everybody again has just given me goosebumps with excitement at how well everybody seems to be skiing. We had one week of GS and one of Slalom. The conditions were good and I think this was the first year we didn’t have a day cancelled due to the weather.

The trip had being going so well for everybody until poor Jane had a bad fall fracturing her collar bone, hopefully it will not be too serious and she will be back on the snow as soon as possible.

We now have a couple of weeks training with the Army and the Combined Service Disabled Ski team in Stubai before heading off for the first races of the season, back at Pitztal and Kuhtai. Bring it on!!!
